Shocked witnesses talk about the comments.

Earlier today on IRC the question about the size of Demigod.exe arose.
According to witnesses Zoomba said the size was "larger than a byte and smaller than 34 petabytes".

This may shock many as the size previously was completly unknown.

"We now have a good basis to start guesses on." a unnamed witness said.

Better stock up on HDD's then!

how big is a petabyte?
on Aug 05, 2008
1024 terabytes if I remember correctly.

I *think* the whole internet is 34 petabytes. I might be wrong though, I'm just talking out of my aformentioned location where futureshop told me to stick my last complaint about a western digital drive.

^lol futureshop.

Well i would guess since most games these days take about 5 gigs for the full install, probably somewhere around there. Bulk of the game equals i would think total number of demigods and maps.

Demigod.exe: 1 byte (pointer to location in memory of Demigod-game.exe)
Demigod-game.exe: (game executable, moved to system memory at startup by Demigod-service.exe)
Demigod-service.exe: (service: starts with system, checks to see if Demigod.exe is running; if Demigod.exe is running, runs Demigod-game.exe)

It's an airtight architecture.

Memory addresses are now 32 or 64 bits, which is 4 or 8 bytes

As I said. Airtight!

I think we can narrow the size a little down:

Minimal size of Exe: 77 Bytes if you want it small maybe less if you skip the "This program must be run under Win32" message
Maximal size of 32bit exe: should be at most 2GB

Of course GPG can try to put it in a 64Kb exe, something like the 96KB FPS here:
http://www.theprodukkt.com/kkrieger.html (look for .kkrieger - chapter I somewhere down that page )

Of course they will need some extra time to create the right algorithmes...

Steps for determining size of Demigod .exe:

1. Look at the most recent Forged Alliance executable.
2. Record the size as s.
2. Your probable size range is between .75s and 1.25s.

If you do it the right way, you can make it above 3GB and still not suffer heavily!

Theres no way this game will be 5GB!!!
I'm guessing 1.4GB

It's probaly around 4.4GB.
